CHAPEL

Bacau, Romania

2009

The chapel is located near Bacau, Romania. The project of this small chapel for sixty people respects the typically regional architecture and is made with pure materials, pointed roofs, narrow entrances and local materials, such as wood and steel.

The barrel vault extends along the central nave from where light enters. The internal contrast deliberately seeks to define the difference between old and new.

The seats and the altar are made of three layers of steel. Only one of them is embedded in the floor. The reason for this lies in the idea of the Trinity: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Each layer is one of the three beings.
